Why is it so important to reduce production?

Because there is no production cycle that does not have a negative impact on the environment. Whether it is the CO2 emissions, the discharge of waste, the use of chemicals or the high consumption of natural resources such as water, plants or electricity, a production cycle always causes more or less serious damage to the planet.

It is not a coincidence that the fashion industry is the second most polluting in the world. Making “sustainable” clothing is good, but it’s not enough. Today, it’s more important than ever to reduce production. That means that you should buy fewer shirts, fewer pants, fewer shorts, fewer backpacks, fewer handbags, etc. Or… … Or you can opt for “+ in 1” products.

The “+ in 1” product is a product capable of performing the function of 2 or more products. A good “+ in 1” product saves the environment at least 1 production cycle.

Let’s take a practical example.

There are at least 3 pairs of pants (3 production cycles) and as many pairs of shorts (another 3 production cycles) in your wardrobe.
If at least one of your pants had been 2in1 pants, you could have avoided buying one of the shorts and saved 1 production cycle.

Note that it takes 7,000 liters of water to produce one pair of jeans. For a t-shirt, it takes 2,700 liters of water to make just one. This means that over 1 trillion liters of water and over 900,000 kg of CO2 would be saved in the production of shorts alone.

Instead, to produce a cow skin leather tote bag about 100.5 kg of CO2 are emitted, and 14.4 kg are emitted to make a PU synthetic leather tote bag. This means that 10 to 78 billion kg of CO2 emitted during the production of bags could be saved.

It is not easy to make a good “+ in 1” product, as it should preserve the main features and purposes of 2 or more different products.
